Merry Christmas from Montana

Hoping your holidays are exactly as is normal..."All is calm and bright"....correct?
Christmas progress report for Mr. Suede aka Hamilton or often "Hambone"! We are loving our pup! Stands 24" at the shoulder, bite has come back to a 'perfect scissor'! Yes!!! He gets "A +" for disposition...(thank you for that) and he is going to be a hunting work of art...he loves to seek and find. And is beautiful to watch..this boy can move. We have a ton of seek and find here...in fact we had to call him off several geese islanding on our Missouri River. He was ready to make the swim. Seems Hamilton loves bush or water...he's up for either. Yet, so kind with our horses..he never runs them.
Thank you again...for letting him be part of our family. I've enjoyed this comedian in dogs clothing... so much. He's just such a happy soul!
Blessings to you and yours!

Bonzai Oh how I love Bonzai!

One of our stud dogs is owned by Mike Okamira an avid hunter who lives in Southern Idaho. Bonzi caught my eye as a puppy, heart... willing... instinctual... Griffon good looks. He has a ready sharp point and is a joyful companion. He is a dark Brown and is a real beauty, just the right size. He is a crazy hunter, and a showman due to Mike's toolage.  You can achieve this too invest in a fishing pole and some bird wings, then give them some time.  That is all it takes:}  We are loving him.

Goals here at Idaho Outack Griffons

My philosophy is to produce a puppy at the height of his potential.  We start by carefully selecting our breeding stock.  I like to use health screened animals that gives us the best chance to produce a healthy, long lived dog.  My second goal is to raise our dogs like a house hold pet as well as a hunting companion and a best freind for my boys.  I never have more than 4 dogs on the place, it is all I can bond to properly.  WE Co-Own with freinds, so other dogs in our breeding program have their own family life.
All the puppies are raised off my kitchen and are handled from day one.  There was a great study done by the monks who raise quality German Shepherds.  They discovered techniques all of which involve early handling and human interaction.  They were able to create more adjusted and trainable adult animals.   So once they begin crawling about they are underfoot, placed all day in the center of the action where even a crowd can't get ignored.
Weather permitting they are kenneled at night and taught about grass or paper in the house.  I love vari kennels they are excellent as their den and as a tool in house training and transporting.  We start introducing them at an early age to water, wings, and all sorts of exploring.
Lastly I want to retain the natural hunting abilities so all our breeding animals hunt and are close range dogs. Though we do not participate in the local NAVDA groups these dogs would do well in that venue.  This is a wonderful organization that gives you a way to test both your dogs natural abilities and your developing handling skills.  AKC has some great opportunities in confirmation but also has obedience and working dog competitions.  I can't wait for someone to take one of these guys through an agility course, I think they could sweep this sort of thing, and maybe one day when my young family is a little older I will try this myself.
My high point is getting the right puppy to the right folks, we work so much with them we know their personalities, and make it our goal for you to know your puppy by the time he arrives.

CODY is now retired from his dad job, but we love that his pups carry his genes!

We have raised really good dogs for the past 23 years.  I was always interested
in having really nice well bred and handsome animals.  So I have been fortionate to meet and connect puppies with all sorts of folks.  This project just doesn't happen overnight.  Lots of planning and thought goes into having a raising really great dogs.  So every once in awhile I meet people in a hurry.  They see what they want but cant afford it or dont have the time to dedicate to a quality operation.  I am a practical kind of lady, get what you want by saving for it. If you some how need a  dog right now consider a more common breed or possibly an abandoned one at a shelter.  I truelly love the consistancies of buying a well bred registered dog.  You know what to expect and a general sense that he or she is your perfect match.   I say keep your dream and plot a way to get it!
